Articles on Pool Care5 Top Tips For An Easy And Clean Swimming PoolResidential swimming pools can be a constant pain if not cared for properly. Cleaning debris from the pool, cleaning the filter, dealing with cloudy water and algae blooms, are just a few of the issues that will need constant attention and can cause recurring headaches. But, armed with the right information and the discipline to routinely keep up on some basic pool care ideas, a swimming pool can be easy and provide countless hours of recreation and exercise. The following five pool care tips are required elements on the road to a clean and easy swimming pool. 1 - Water Circulation - on the top of the list is pool equipment that is working properly and providing adequate water circulation throughout the pool. Even if the pool water is properly balanced and has adequate sanitizer, if the pool pump is not working properly or the pool filter is not big enough or not in good repair, there will be constant problems with the pool. 2 - Proper Pool Water Balance - it is not terribly difficult and just takes a little practice and some trial and error, keeping the pool water balanced is a crucial requirement on the road to having a clear swimming pool and protecting the investment in a pool. It is vital that the pool has enough sanitizer to prevent algae growth and that the pH, Alkalinity, and Calcium Hardness are balanced in order to prevent damage to the pool equipment and pool surface. But once established and stable, the process of balancing the pool chemicals shouldn't take more than 5 minutes a week. 3 - Clean Filter - without a clean filter, there won't be enough water circulation, which of course is number 1 on the list. Make it a routine to clean the filter periodically. Most pool filters need cleaning in the range of once a month to once a year, depending on the type and size of the pool filter. 4 - Water Level - many swimming pool have leaks that lead to a constant struggle with keeping the water level high enough. If the water level gets too low, the pool pump will start drawing water, leading to insufficient filtration and water circulation and of course a cloudy swimming pool or an algae bloom. Especially in the hot or summer months, pay close attention to the water level in the pool. 5 - Filter Run Time - Lastly, if all the other issues are in line, make sure the pool equipment is running for enough time each day. The pool equipment should be running off a pool timer so it automatically runs each day. Most average size residential swimming pools should run for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours a day. All five of the above tips are interrelated and work together. It only takes one of them to be out of line in order for the swimming pool to start having problems. Once these issues are stabilized, it should only take 10 - 15 minutes once a week to keep the pool crystal clear.
