Install Top Closure Plate Correctly

When cleaning the Hayward SwimClear Pool Filter, one common mistake when reassembling the filter is installing the Top Closure Plate backwards.

When the Hayward SwimClear Top Closure Plate is installed incorrectly, the pool water will not be filtered properly because much of the dirt and debris will pass through the gap created between the filter cartridges and the closure plate, returning to the pool. This will result in a dirty, cloudy, and sometime a green pool due to the lack of filtration.

To install the closure plate properly, insert the four wide and short cylinder parts of it into the top of the four filter cartridges. The simplest way to know the closure plate is installed properly is to make sure it has a snug fit. If it's installed incorrectly it will fit loosely and you will notice the gap that will allow the water and dirt to return to the swimming pool.

Lastly, each time you clean the filter, inspect the closure plate to make sure it isn't cracked. If it is cracked, it may not seal properly resulting in a similar problem.
