Properly Maintain the Filter Cartridges

The Hayward SwimClear Cartridge Pool Filter uses four cartridges as filter media to remove smaller dirt and debris from the pool water. Maintained properly, the filter cartridges should last between three and five years depending on the pool's surrounding environment.

What do I mean by "maintained properly"?

1 - Make sure the filter has a Hayward Pressure Gauge that's in good working order and never let the pressure increase more than 10 psi from the pressure reading immediately after cleaning.

2 - Clean the cartridges with a backyard garden hose using the high pressure from a standard nozzle attachment. Do NOT use a pressure washer!

3 - Any time your pool has algae be sure to clean the cartridges once the algae is cleared.

4 - Keep written records of cartridge cleanings and make it a habit to check your records and inspect the pressure gauge every week or two to avoid letting the filter get too dirty.
