Pool Tips on Pool Cleaners - Polaris 280Inspect the Sweep HoseThe Polaris 280 Sweep Hose, otherwise known as the tail, when working properly should sweep back and forth moving dirt and debris toward the main drain to eventually reach the main filter. Two things can happen that will change this tail action along with affecting how well the pool cleaner does its job. 1 - The hose develops a crack from old age. 2 - The hose develops a hole from wear and tear. 3 - The polaris orifice tip wears down and falls off. If any of these things happen, the sweep hose will no longer work properly. The hole or holes will leak too much water pressure, not leaving enough pressure to move the cleaner gears properly. As the holes get bigger the cleaner will become sluggish and eventually just stop moving. So if your Polaris 280 becomes uncharacteristically sluggish, be sure to carefully inspect and test the sweep hose for holes and/or leaks and replace as necessary.
