Symptoms of Bad Wheel Bearings

A very common problem with the Polaris 280 Pool Cleaner is wheel bearings that have gone bad. When the wheel bearings go bad you will notice one or more of the following problems with the cleaner.

1 - Inconsistent Cleaning - the first symptom that shows up when one of the Polaris 280 wheel bearings is going bad will be when the cleaner doesn't seem to be working the same way it once did. It may move slower or only work intermittently and get stuck in one place for a long time more often.

2 - Runs In Circles - sometimes when one of the Polaris wheel bearings is bad it causes the wheel to stick and the cleaner will run in circles driven by the opposite side wheel.

3 - Wobbly Wheels - with the pump off, pull the cleaner out of the pool and test the wheels to see if they are wobbly. If they are remove the wheels to see if the wheel bearings are bad.

4 - Won't Move - if there is plenty of water pressure reaching the cleaner and it still isn't moving through the pool, check the wheel bearings.
