Articles on Automatic Pool CleanersDolphin Diagnostic Pool Cleaner - Won't Climb WallsThe Dolphin Diagnostic is a top-notch robotic pool cleaner that can automatically scrub, brush, and vacuum the pool in a relatively short period of time. It's a great tool to help make maintaining a swimming pool as easy as possible. One of the symptoms that indicate that the cleaner needs maintenance is when it stops climbing the walls of the pool. Following are the most common reasons the Dolphin Diagnostic robotic pool cleaner stops climbing the walls of the pool. Bag Full - if the Dolphin Filter Bag is full with debris, the cleaner may be too heavy to allow the cleaner to climb the walls. Empty and clean the filter bag. Algae on the Walls - if there is algae growth on the walls of the pool, it may be too slippery for the cleaner to climb the walls. If there is visible algae on the walls of the pool OR the slippery feeling of algae can be felt on the walls, brush the walls of the pool and apply an algaecide. An excellent product for killing the algae and clarifying the pool water with one treatment is Algatec. Worn PVC Brushes - the brushes on the Dolphin Diagnostic get worn down over time and need to be replaced. When the brushes are worn out, the cleaner won't move along the bottom of the pool or climb the walls of the pool the way it needs to for the pool to get cleaned. Inspect each Dolphin Diagnostic Brush for wear and replace if necessary. Impeller Jammed with Debris - sometimes the impeller will get jammed up with debris restricting sufficient movement of the cleaner and keeping it from climbing the walls. Inspect the impeller tube and remove and clean if necessary. The Dolphin Diagnostic pool cleaner, like every other pool cleaner, should be routinely inspected for repair issues, cleaned of any dirt and debris, and tested for proper operation. Doing so will increase the life of the cleaner significantly. As soon as it is noticed that the Dolphin isn't climbing the walls of the pool the way it used to, troubleshoot the problem using the tips listed above. If these tips don't solve the problem, consider calling the local pool store or a local pool service professional for help.
