Articles on Automatic Pool CleanersHayward Navigator Stops on Pool StepsDoes your Hayward Navigator pool cleaner keep stopping on the pool steps? If so, try these tips to help find out why. Hose Not Long Enough - the Hayward Navigator hose should reach to the furthest point in the pool, plus an additional two hose sections. If the hose isn't long enough, the cleaner will end up running in one place for long periods of time. Is There Enough Suction - make sure there is enough suction to allow the cleaner to work properly. With the pool equipment on, lift the Hayward Navigator to just below the surface of the water and feel with your hand to see if there is a reasonable amount of suction getting to the cleaner. If you don't think there is enough pressure, make sure all baskets are clear of debris, the main pool filter is clean, and that the diverter valve is open to the pool cleaner. Worn Shoes - If the shoes on the Navigator are worn down, the cleaner will get stuck and operate in one spot for extended periods of time. If this is the case, replace the shoes. Worn or Missing Wings - If the wings on the Navigator are worn or missing, the cleaner may not be able to work its way away from the steps or corners of the pool. Check the wings and replace them if necessary. If these problem solving tips don't help find the issue with your Hayward Navigator pool cleaner, there is probably an internal moving part that is malfunctioning. Call your local pool store for help.
