Articles on Automatic Pool CleanersHayward Viper Pool Cleaner - Hose Gets TangledThe Hayward Viper pool cleaner is designed to clean the swimming pool faster and more efficiently than other automatic pool cleaners. But if the pressure hose is constantly getting tangled, the cleaning range will be limited and frustration can set in fast. Following are some tips on troubleshooting a tangled hose problem with the Viper pool cleaner. Hose Too Long - if the pressure hose is not the proper length, the Viper will not work efficiently. If the hose is too short, the cleaner will not clean the entire pool. If it is too long, it will get tangled. See the instruction in the Owners Manual on how to shorten the pressure hose. Hose Floats Not Spaced Properly - improperly spaced hose floats can cause tangle problems with the Viper. On each of the 10 foot hoses, there should be 3 floats spaced evenly. One float should be placed 18 inches from each end of the hose with one float in the middle. Spin-Out Too Long - the Spin-Out feature of the Viper pool cleaner makes it periodically stop and rotate clockwise. This allows the Viper to get better coverage of the pool and avoid getting stuck in the corners or on any other obstacle in the pool. The Viper comes with three different Spin-Out Cams that can be used to change the spin-out duration. See the Owners Manual for instructions on how to change the cam. When the pressure hose on the Viper pool cleaner gets tangled frequently, the swimming pool will not stay clean and the pool will demand much more time to maintain and keep clean. If the troubleshooting tips above don't solve the tangled hose problem, it may be necessary to contact a local pool professional for help.
