Articles on Automatic Pool CleanersPentair Legend Pool Cleaner - Does Not Climb WallsThe Pentair Legend Pool Cleaner does a great job of helping keep a swimming pool clean when it is working properly. As the pool cleaner starts to age, there are several parts that will need to be replaced to keep the pool cleaner working efficiently. One sure sign that the Legend needs attention is when the hoses start getting tangled on a routine basis. There are several different problems that will cause the Legend's feed hose to start getting tangled up and tied in knots. Dirty Filter - any time the Legend is acting sluggish or not working the way it normally does, the first thing to check is the pool filters. If the main pool filter is dirty, there might not be enough water flow to operate the pool cleaner. Also check the filter screen inside the wall fitting. If this filter screen gets clogged up with debris, there will not be enough water flow for the Legend to operate properly. Algae on Pool Walls - if the swimming pool has algae and the algae is growing on the pool walls or pool cleaner wheels, the algae can be slippery and make it harder for the Legend to climb the walls. It is important to routinely brush the pool walls even when algae is not visible. Wheel RPM Problem - for proper performance, the Legend pool cleaner should run in the range of 28 to 32 RPM. If the cleaner is running below 28 RPM, it may not have enough power to climb the walls. First, make sure the filters are clean. If all pool filters are clean and the problem still exists, it could indicate a problem with the internal parts of the Legend. Contact a local pool service company or pool store for help. The climbing ability of the Legend pool cleaner is dependent on the water flow being provided and its condition. When the Legend stops climbing the walls as it normally does when working efficiently, follow the above tips to troubleshoot the problem. If the problem still exists, contact Pentair Pool Products Technical Support or a local pool professional for help.
