Kreepy Krauly Pool Cleaner Troubleshooting Tips

The Kreepy Krauly pool cleaner is among the best suction side pool cleaners available on the market today. When working properly, the Kreepy Krauly will keep the bottom and sides of the pool clean and free of any dirt or debris that enters the pool. As with any other pool cleaner, as the conditions with the pool or pool equipment change, the pool cleaner might stop working efficiently. Following are some troubleshooting tips for the most common problems associated with the Kreepy Krauly pool cleaner.

If the Kreepy Krauly stops working, is no longer pulsating and is stuck in one spot, follow these tips to troubleshoot the problem.

• The Main Pool Filter is Dirty - check the main pool filter to make sure it is clean and providing enough suction for the Kreepy Krauly. This is probably the most common reason for the Kreepy Krauly to stop working.
• Stuck on the Main Drain - the Kreepy Krauly may be stuck on the main drain. Check to make sure the valve for the main drain is closed. Since the Kreepy Krauly vacuums the dirt and debris from the bottom of the pool, it is okay for the main drain to be fully or mostly closed.
• Pump Basket is Clogged with Debris - if the pump basket is clogged with debris, the pool pump will not be able to pull water from the pool and provide suction for the Kreepy Krauly to work from.
• Water Level is Too Low - if the pool's water level is too low, the pool pump will not have any water to pull from the pool and there won't be any suction for the Kreepy Krauly to work from.
• Debris Stuck in the Bottom of the Kreepy Krauly - it is very common for large debris or a pool toy to get stuck or wedged in the bottom of the pool cleaner. This will restrict water flow and/or movement of the flapper. With the pool pump off, lift the Kreepy Krauly out of the pool and clear any obstruction.
• Leaks in the Kreepy Krauly Hoses - if any of the hose sections are old and/or have developed a crack, it can cause an air leak and the pool cleaner will not work. Check each section of hose to make sure it is good repair and is not causing an air leak. With the pool filter on, starting where the pool cleaner attaches to the pool wall, slowly pull each hose section out of the water. If there is a leak, it should be visible or heard.
