Articles on Automatic Pool CleanersHayward Pool Vac Ultra Pool Cleaner - Not MovingThe Pool Vac Ultra is an excellent tool for many residential swimming pools for automating and simplifying the pool cleaning process. The Pool Vac Ultra is powered by the pool equipment and its performance is dependent upon the its efficiency and proper maintenance. When the Pool Vac stops working normally and is not moving or moving sluggishly, following are the most common troubleshooting solutions to get it moving again. Not Enough Suction - the most common problem with the Pool Vac is as simple as a dirty filter. Before trying any other troubleshooting, make sure the main pool filter is clean and all baskets are clean and not clogged. If the problem continues, try the following tips. Blockage - the Pool Vac could be sluggish or not moving because there is debris caught in the throat of or inside the cleaner. Remove the cleaner from the water with the pool pump off and visually inspect the cleaner. It will be very obvious if the throat of the cleaner is clogged. Clear it out with a finger if possible. If necessary, open the Easy Opening Bottom with a Phillips head screwdriver and flush out the insides of the Pool Vac with a garden hose. After cleaning the turbine should turn freely. Replace the Easy Opening Bottom and test the cleaner for normal operation. Worn Shoes - worn pod shoes can stop the Pool Vac from working properly. Check the pod shoes for excessive wear and replace if necessary. Worn Wings - worn or missing pod wings can also stop the Pool Vac from working efficiently. Check the pod wings for excessive wear and replace if necessary. Worn Internal Parts - there are many internal moving parts that could be worn or malfunctioning and cause the Pool Vac Ultra to stop moving or move sluggishly and not completely clean the pool. If the other troubleshooting tips don't solve the problem, the cleaner will need to be taken apart and inspected. Hopefully these tips have helped troubleshoot the reason why the Pool Vac Ultra has stopped moving or is moving slowly and not keeping the swimming pool clean. If the problem is still not solved, contact a local pool professional for help.
