Articles on Automatic Pool CleanersJandy Energy Filter - How to Stop it From LeakingIf your swimming pool has a pressure side pool cleaner such as the Polaris 360 or Jandy Rayvac, you probably have a Jandy Energy Filter plumbed into the pool equipment to filter the pool water that bypasses the main pool filter to supply pressure to the cleaner. A common problem that occurs with these small filters is they will develop a small leak. Pool owners often end up calling a pool service professional or going into a local pool store to figure out how to stop the leak. Following are some tips on how to stop a Jandy Energy Filter from leaking. Inspect the O-Ring - first, remove the Jandy Energy Filter Bowl with a large screwdriver and inspect the o-ring. If it is cracked or split in any way, that could be causing the leak. Sometimes the o-ring gets stretched out and when the filter is re-installed, it will get pinched as the filter is tightened, causing a leak. The o-ring should fit snuggly around the filter bowl. If it is stretched, try soaking it in ice water before installing, which may shrink it enough so that it fits properly. If not, purchase a new Jandy Energy Filter O-Ring, reinstall and you should be good to go. Dirt and Debris - Sometimes the filter is leaking for a simple reason like dirt and debris trapped in the threads of the Jandy Energy Filter Top when it gets reinstalled. When removed, inspect not only the filter bowl and o-ring for cleanliness, but inspect and clean the inside of the filter top to make sure there isn't any debris that might be contributing to the leak. Too Tight - when the Jandy Energy Filter is leaking, the tendency is for pool owners to try to tighten the filter more. In fact, quite often the reason for the leak is because the filter is tightened too much displacing the o-ring and making just enough room for water to leak. Hand tighten the filter, then try backing off by loosening just a bit. This trick could very well stop the leak. Be sure to routinely inspect your Jandy Energy Filter closely and clean it thoroughly to remove any dirt and debris. Then, when reinstalled, if your Jandy Energy Filter has an annoying leak that you just can't seem to stop, troubleshoot using the tips above and avoid the expense of hiring someone to solve the problem.`
